Every Nigerian Browser Game Made in the Lagos Life Rush (Updated October 7, 2026)
Less than two weeks ago, a Berlin-based Nigerian developer posted a game where you drive a danfo from Ojuelegba to Yaba. Five days later, a UK-based developer put Lagos into The Sims. By this morning, Lagos Life's public dashboard showed 3,058,259 players, and Nigerian developers had shipped games about mama put, Family Feud, finger counting, corrupt politicians, street football and, yes, taking a bath.
We've tracked down every one we could find and grouped them below by type. If we've missed yours, tell us and we'll add it.

Lagos Life
Shalom Rayhamen (@Shalom_HeyEliy)
Multiplayer life sim, now with Abuja and Port Harcourt
Opeyemi Adeniran, who posts as Eureka, posted Lagos Run on X on September 26. You drive a yellow danfo, pick up passengers at stops, drop them off for fare and try not to crash in go-slow. There's an in-game radio station, Ojuelegba FM, a garage for paint and stickers, and a live leaderboard.
He told Technext he built it over four to five weeks after work, using Anthropic's Claude to write code and AI tools for the art. He also told IsaKaba he "expected a few hundred people to play it and laugh." It got 140,000 players in its first week from 145 countries.
It now lives at danforun.com. This week, he added Gbas Gbos, a live mode where you race another driver on the same road to the last bus stop. He also shared advice he got from a veteran game designer who worked on The Sims, Star Wars, Madden and The Elder Scrolls: "Make it even MORE Nigerian."
Lagos Life
Lagos Life went live on October 1. You pick a start (Nepo or Lapo, rich kid or microloan), get a job, pay rent, buy food, deal with NEPA and hang out at places like Amala Shitta and Quilox with other real players.
Shalom Rayhamen built the first version in one night after seeing Lagos Run, she told Nduka Ukoha's Substack. "I grew up playing The Sims 3 and always wondered what it would be like if the Sims lived in a world inspired by ours," she said.
The numbers, all from the game's own dashboard:
Lagos Life by the numbers
October 1: launch
October 5: 1,212,477 players, 109,000+ peak concurrent (Techpoint)
October 6: 2 million players; Abuja and Port Harcourt added (Vanguard)
October 7: 3,058,259 players, 114,224 online, 26.7 million visits (IsaKaba)
Revenue: about $46,900 in the first four days, mostly from in-game billboards (IsaKaba, Condia)
The game is free and 18+. Game naira can't be cashed out.
Life sims set in other cities
"What about us?" was the reply under every Lagos Life post from people outside Lagos. Within days, developers answered for their own cities. Shalom also answered herself: Lagos Life added Abuja and Port Harcourt on October 6.
Built by emriz.eth (@ghostcdev), an Abuja-based developer. You create a character, rent or buy a home, furnish it, work, drive around and go out across Maitama, Wuse, Jabi, Garki, Gwarinpa and Lugbe. He posted afterwards that it was never meant as competition: "Big shoutout to @Shalom_HeyEliy for #LagosLife. I genuinely love what she built." He's also building Okrika, a tool that searches for things you want to buy based on a description.
A different Abuja game. This one's in 3D, credits itself only as "Made in the FCT", and has the most landmarks so far: City Gate, Eagle Square, the National Mosque. Taxis charge fares. You'll run into Fulani herds and police checkpoints. Clothes range from agbada to corper uniform. Multiplayer, jobs, and housing are listed as coming soon.
There's a third, at abuja-lifestyle.web.app, with the line "Hustle, chop suya, find connections. Survive the FCT." And at least three more Abuja Life projects sit on GitHub.
Dx (@danieldxdere) posted that he saw Eureka's danfo game, then Lagos Life, and "We couldn't just be watching." PH Lifestyle is multiplayer: you roast bole, carry load, work shifts, gist with whoever is at your spot, and spray money at owambes to climb the rich list. It's 18+, and links and phone numbers are blocked in chat, which is more safety-conscious than most of these games have.
Kano Life, Ibadan Life, Benin Life
These are earlier and rougher. Kano Life (kano-life.vercel.app) calls itself "live your Kano story", "inspired by Lagos Life, built for the ancient city of commerce." It tracks hunger, energy, mood, and runs on West African Time.
There are two Ibadan games on GitHub. The more ambitious one, ibadanLife by camzoidltd, maps all of Oyo State (Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa) and adds things Lagos Life doesn't have: freelancing, a faith path, a news feed, okada and keke. Benin Life also exists as a GitHub project.
Ghana got one too. There's a live version at accralife.app and at least two on GitHub. One describes itself as "Ride trotro, chop waakye, party in Osu, survive dumsor." Read that next to Lagos Life's "Ride danfo, chop amala at Shitta, party at Quilox, survive NEPA." Another repo calls itself "Better than the original Lagos Life!" which is BOLD to say the least.
Driving and running games
Lagos Run by Olaf. A separate danfo game by @iam_donolaf, a Lagos-based developer. Pick up passengers, survive traffic. Listed on Naija Indie.
Lagos Hustle. By @Ememzyvisuals. You're a content creator running, riding and filming through Lagos while agberos chase you for money. You can hop on bicycles, danfos and okadas. There's a story mode that ends in a boxing fight, plus an endless mode with a leaderboard.
Naija Dash. Listed on Oya Jam. Dodge obstacles in Lagos, chase a high score.
Open world
Surviving Nigeria (gta.koha.wtf). Koha's GTA-style multiplayer game. The street layout comes from OpenStreetMap. The goal is to "Divide the National Cake" by collecting seven Ghana Must Go bags to become the Big Man, while everyone else hunts you. You can drive, steal cars and shoot, and your wanted level climbs if you do. The leaderboard is called "Jagabans of Lagos." No sign-up needed.
Hustle and life-choice games
Lagos Tycoon (tycoon.ellomas.com). By @tomiwa_amole. Start broke in a face-me-I-face-you, trade and hustle your way to an empire.
Naija Hustle (naijahustle.pages.dev). By @kachi_pbm. You start at 21 with ₦50,000 and make career, relationship and money choices until 30. It has 16 illustrated characters, four career paths and a leaderboard of who ends up richest.
Cooking games
Mama Put Rush. Run the busiest mama put in Obalende. Serve jollof and dodo before customers lose patience. Made through Oya Jam's weekly game jam.
MamaPut. A second buka game by @damian_codes: "Serve am sharp sharp! Run your buka, count your gain."
Quiz and party games
Crowd Said. Oluwatimileyin (@thetimileyin) built a Family Feud-style survey game. Guess what the crowd said, solo, one-on-one or in teams, and send a code to a friend to play against them. He also made RIMSHOT, a 60-second basketball shooting game.
Wetin Be Dat? A daily game where you ask yes-or-no questions to guess a Nigerian food, place, slang word or festival. Think Wordle with jollof.
After Round 1. The finger-count game from primary school, online.
NameIt! Name, Animal, Place, Thing, but online, by @hik_ari_. It was the most-played game on Naija Indie this week with 179 plays.
Oya Quiz. By @rafaelchisom. "You sabi Naija? Oya, make your guys see am."
Satire
Return Am!. A beat-'em-up where you fight fictional corrupt politicians, collect evidence and return the loot. You can play as "citizen" or "oga". It's under 0.3 MB, works offline after first load, has a lite mode for bad network, comes in English and Pidgin, and lets you duel a friend through a shared link. The game says every politician in it is fictional.
Sports
Monkey Post. Yerins Abraham's take on the street football everybody played: small pitch, tiny posts, no keeper. If the name rings a bell, ChopUp, the studio behind the original Danfo game, announced a Monkey Post game back in 2016.
Where to find more Nigerian browser games
Two directories popped up to keep track of all this:
Oya Jam lists 107 free browser games, 55 of them made in Nigeria, with a "most played this week" chart. It also runs a weekly game jam.
Naija Indie lists 35 games from developers in 12 Nigerian cities, with weekly play counts.
Has this happened before?
Yes, on a smaller scale. ChopUp's Danfo ran on Nokia phones in 2007 and passed a million downloads across the series. Maliyo Games made Okada Ride in 2012 and Aboki Run after it. Gamsole's Gidi Run sent you through Yaba in 2016. Several of them struggled to get people to download and keep an app. Every game on this list skips that step: you tap a link and you're playing.
And Google just joined in
Google Labs launched Playground today, October 7. It lets anyone make a game by typing a description, then share or publish it. For now it's US-only and 18+, so Nigerian developers are still doing it the slightly older way: AI coding tools and late nights.
