Hey, Workie!

So apparently, some students at Ivy League universities like Harvard and Colombia have been seriously protesting on their campuses, trying to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza, and it’s gotten so serious that they’re now being arrested or suspended.

Would you do the same thing and bear the consequences for the greater good, or would you be scared to risk your school fees? (Keep in mind they pay over $50,000 a year to go to these schools.)

CORPORATE BANTS

Start Working On Your Elevator Pitch

Have you ever hoped and prayed that one day you’d be in close proximity to someone who could potentially help your career? Well, if you have, let’s imagine you actually got the chance to meet someone who could assist in launching your career. What would you say?

If this question has you scratching your head, then you need to start working on your elevator pitch.

If you’re still confused, let me clarify; an elevator pitch is basically a quick summary of who you are, what you do, why you’re valuable, and what makes you special.

Contrary to what you might think, hardly anyone wants to hear your whole life story when deciding whether or not you’d be a good fit for a position or if you have potential, and that’s why having your elevator pitch locked and loaded can be very helpful.

Now that we’ve established what an elevator pitch is, let’s move on to how to come up with one:

  1. Summarize what you do: Nobody wants to hear a Wikipedia rundown of what people in your field typically do, so you need to sit down and critically think about how you’d like to describe what you do in an interesting and concise way.

  2. Explain what you want to do: After you’ve clarified where you are currently, you have to figure out how to emphasize where you want to be in your career. Stick to practical ambitions and keep it quick!

  3. Figure out your call to action: Whether it's looking for new information or securing a next-step conversation, you need to tailor the ending to achieve your desired outcome.
