Hi, CareerBuddy!
I had an interview yesterday and the interviewer asked where I see myself in 10 years, and for the first time I was blank. I ended up saying something o but now thinking about it I’m not sure I know where I actually see myself in 10 years. How do people know? Please can you help me
Honest opinion?
I don’t believe you need an answer to that question. I mean, in theory, they’re great! But in reality, they can set you up for a world of disappointment because they don’t account for change.
No matter how smart and put together anyone’s 10-year plan sounds, it’s most likely a lie. And here’s what I mean…
The best career path for you 10 years from now most likely doesn’t exist. So instead of worrying about having a long-term career plan, I suggest you have a long-term perspective for your career and life.
For me, when people ask where I see myself in 10 years, I say “Alive, rich, happy, impactful, and prosperous.”
I hope you found this helpful.
