Search EVERYWHERE Optimization
You might have heard of SEO, but have you heard of SEO?
Yes, you read that right.
There’s a new kid on the block and it’s making us optimise content like our lives depend on it.
….well, maybe it does?
This new kid is called Search EVERYWHERE Optimization (SEO), and apparently, it involves optimising your content beyond just Google. I’m talking AI search results, app stores, social media, Pinterest, YouTube, and even Amazon. Literally, everywhere possible.
Now, You might argue this isn’t entirely new and you’re right. So, why then is it called the “new” SEO?
Because it is now a must and not just a bonus or an afterthought.
The gist is that the people you’re trying to reach are turning to other sources apart from Google to seek answers to their questions more than ever before.
In fact, Google reports that 40% of young people turn to apps like TikTok and Instagram for search purposes instead of traditional search engines. They want quick answers!
The same thing applies to AI searches. Think about it – the last time you needed a quick answer to a question on your mind, did you go to Google or ChatGPT?
There goes your answer.
Now, as if the gods of marketing were stalking me, I also found a post recently, where Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, revealed a top signal the platform uses to rank content: sends per reach.
Mosseri's point was, creating content people want to share directly with close friends and family can improve your reach over time. In other words, you also now have to optimise your content for “sends” if you want it to rank on socials.
Do you see why you can’t joke with this “new SEO” any longer?
If you’re going to stay on top of your sales, marketing and customer game in today's world where things are constantly changing, you need to be intentional about optimising your content EVERYWHERE.
However, please don’t compromise on the quality and relevance of your content because of this.
Remember, content alone isn’t king; engaging and valuable content is.
