How to Build Strong Employee Retention Strategies

Over the weekend, I came across an intriguing conversation between a concerned founder and a talent consultant. The founder's desperate tone revealed the challenges he faced in retaining young talent, particularly Gen Z and Millennials.

Here was his question:

A big challenge for us is, how do you retain people? Because many times, the freshers, when they come in, within six months, one year after, you train them, they leave. That has been a big challenge we are looking to address. So we were considering some kind of retainership for at least three years.

However, the consultant's immediate response was straightforward: "Won't work."

This concern resonates with many other founders and talent managers, which led to the inception of the WorkShift with CareerBuddy. The primary theme of our premiere edition was centered around finding effective strategies to retain talented individuals, particularly in the face of a trend where people were applying for jobs out of frustration (rage applying).

The departure of skilled employees poses a significant challenge, as it meant having to search for suitable replacements, a task that is notoriously difficult. So, what solutions were proposed during the Masterclass?

Our speaker, Ebi Adeyemi, presented the "Employee Retention Model”.

Like the coach in the earlier video, Ebi began by analyzing the evolution of the workspace to comprehend what the current talent pool truly desires. Then, she shared practical, step-by-step solutions with real-life examples.
